Helllloooooo NY!!

So, where did we leave off??  Oh yea, we are in New York!!!!  We pulled in to Watertown late on Saturday the 10th.  We decided to stay in a hotel instead of having to go to the cold house and find our mattresses which we had brought with us.  Hey, we don't do anything small!!  We didn't know how long it would be until our household arrived and we wanted to be able to sleep at the house, so we brought mattresses, kitchen pots and pans, etc.  We went to the house early Sunday morning, planning to clean and paint and found out that the truck with the household items would arrive early the next morning.  So we quickly unloaded all the wool and business stuff from the truck and cleaned the best we could and I started painting the living room and Mom painted her bedroom.  It was a long day, but oh so very good to be home.  I snapped pictures of the house empty and will show you pictures after it is all put together which is proving to be very tedious................I feel like the little engine, I think I can, I think I can find a place for all these knick knacks!!

This is our dining room, which is the one of the entries into the house, there are 3 other doors as well.

Our little kitchen which is one of our soon to be renovations..

Other side of the kitchen...

Living room....

Living room again....

...and again...

...and I decided I wanted to paint the living room even before we got here, so I chose this nice wheat colored paint.  Hate it..........boring!!  Come back to see what I did to finish if off!

Master bedroom......when we moved in originally 7 years ago, this room was in bad shape with very old wallpaper, several layers to be truthful.  So, my sister told me about this great wall treatment she does.  The walls were not great, so we slathered them with joint compound, creating a raised texture with our hands, then painted it this pretty, calming blue...

Master bedroom again....

Mom's room, guess what....
....she painted it too!!  A nice dark brown, it's very dark, great for a brain that never rests...she sleeps well in this room!

Mom's sewing area...

Mom's living room...

My office.  Hubby and I tore up this carpet today because, well, let's just say.......tenant.....cat....I'll say no more!  And, I bought paint for this room too!  Keep watching for an after picture..

Upstairs hall....

Until we get the shop built The Old Tattered Flag will be operating out of this room....

...this room is already loaded with wool......

See, it doesn't take us long to get the shelves stocked again!!
And what a nice surprise we had waiting for us when we pulled in.  Annette, Ann and Lillith had made a Welcome Home banner and dropped off, some cider, donuts, a Mum and ladies, did you bring these pumpkins? or did the tenant leave them?  How nice of them, it sure was appreciated!!

Awwww, thanks ladies!

We decided to hang the rugs we had designed/hooked over the last year so the ladies here can see all the new ones hanging up......well, here's the stack of new rugs from the last 14 months....

...and what will we do with the old rugs??  I guess they'll have to be set aside until the new shop is ready...

Here's a few bolts waiting to be unloaded from the truck...

First order of business when we got in was to get this baby roaring again.....ah, nothing better than a wood stove!

And thanks to Mr. Maguire we had this pretty stack of wood waiting when we pulled into the yard....
....and now it's Monday morning, Nov. 11th and our household items have arrived.  No more painting, the true chaos begins....
Come back to see progress on the house and the wool studio...
NY hookers, our room is ready if you need to stop by to build your stash.  It's a tiny room, but we will make due until the shop is ready.  Give me a call if you want to come by 315-767-8313....

Until next time.......(tomorrow)

About Me

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my blog. I am married and just entering the second phase of my life as a Army retiree's wife. My husband and I did 25+ years in the Army. He is now officially a retired Colonel and has just entered the civilian workforce and I am happily settled in our 1830 Stone house. I (along with my Mom) operate www.theoldtatteredflag and currently we are building a small shop in the back part of the house. We live in Northern NY, right near the Canadian border. I have two handsome sons and 2 puggles. Life is busy for us, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
