NY State Fair Photos

I just wanted to share some neat photos from the State Fair.
First, that apple is a painting. I just had to take a picture of it. It looks like a photograph, it was just beautiful.
Next, I just love the animals at the fair. Our state fair is huge and we have to walk around each year and look at every single breed of animal. I'm partial to the horses and sheep, but these goats just cracked me up. Honestly, the goat with no ear!! Every year they just make me laugh.
Next, looks like mom got her hands on those chicks and dyed them!!! Of course anything that had to do with those colors we were drawn to. The ladies in the wool building dye their wool roving with kool aid and they get the most beautiful colors. We are going to give that a try!!
We had a great time!!
Until next time.......

I wish I could get some of that lovely roving. I'm yearning to spin, but I'm also on a hooking bent lately and I think I'll take advantage of it! Fun goat pictures!

Maybe I can track down who sells that roving. I recall that a farm donated it to the fair, but I'll poke around. I'd like some too, I like to fool with needle felting.....

Hi Courtney,
I think that roving came from Nistock Farms, www.nistockfarms.com They are very successful though as most of the wool on the website was tamporarily unavailable. Good stuff though!

About Me

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my blog. I am married and just entering the second phase of my life as a Army retiree's wife. My husband and I did 25+ years in the Army. He is now officially a retired Colonel and has just entered the civilian workforce and I am happily settled in our 1830 Stone house. I (along with my Mom) operate www.theoldtatteredflag and currently we are building a small shop in the back part of the house. We live in Northern NY, right near the Canadian border. I have two handsome sons and 2 puggles. Life is busy for us, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
