Some Family, some Hookin and some frantic drawing......

My goodness, the time flies between blog posts.  I really do try to write every couple of days, but as I was telling Iley on the phone the other day, we really are just pretty darn boring.  It's really something for me to come up with something to write once a week.......but I will try!!

Last weekend my Sister and her family came over to visit us.  She lives in Vermont and we had given her husband and Son tickets to a Syracuse Bball game, so my husband and son Jeremy went along and we headed to the mall.  We had a great weekend all together again and it was capped off by a Patriots win!!!  Nothing like watching the Game with the whole family...

I asked my Sister to bring me some of her Santa's so I could offer them at the Hook-in we are doing with Betsy Reed on February 1.  Look at these guys, each one holds a Rug Hooking item, most with mini patterns (with my rug designs) and tiny hooks and little "strips" of wool.  So cute!!

One thing this family never misses is a meal.......that's Sis and Mom next to one another!

Ugh, I can't even believe we posed for this!!  Morning, no make up and I'm not even sure I had my second cup of coffee.  Me, Mom and Lisa!!  Three beauties........!

Before Lisa and her family came over we had a day of hooking with the ladies.  As usual a good time was had and I'm so happy they brought some of their finished products over for me to show you....
Here's Lillith with her wool Tree Skirt.....

....and here's a very intricate quilt tree skirt made by Tamara.....wow!

....and a wool applique quilt square by Tamara too!!

...and I finished my "The Winter Star" punch needle.  The pattern/kit is available at the website, here is the link:

This next picture just makes me smile because by looking at the snow you can tell the personalities of my two dogs.  Max is on the right, slowly trudging through to make his way, and to the left is Baxter, hoppity, hoppity, just like tigger, all bouncy and excited!!

Ok, maybe not excited about the snow.  Baxter is like a cat, he does things on his own terms.  He is the last one out of bed every morning, usually around 9, and yes, that is out of our bed, from under the covers.  I don't think on this day he wanted to face the world just yet!!

Mom and I have been super busy getting ready for the Hook-in.  When we asked Betsy what to bring she simply said "EVERYTHING".  Well, with over 100 designs that's just not possible, but it's also very hard for me to leave any at home, so I've been frantically trying to get a bunch drawn up and made into kits.....

....and Mom is getting wool ready......

I can never put all the trees away after Christmas.  This one is tucked in the corner behind the wool pile.  I love how my paint technique looks at night with the twinkly white lights....

...and speaking of Christmas, I meant to show you this earlier.  I made this cute little pin pouch for Mom.  The top is sculpted from FIMO and then I sewed the wool pouch right into it, after it was baked!!

Here's a little sneak peek of my office, but really, the gold does not look like this, it's more mustard....it's really not me, but I do love it, it's light and feminine  (lol, not like me).  I hung the rug that Mom gave me a few years ago, a design she hooked by Maggie Bonanami.  Love it....and love the scissor rack.  No more losing my scissors....

....and last but not least, I'm happy to say that we have tentatively started the planning for the dye kitchen/shop.  Mike had a very busy day with wood and insulation prep and this is what I came home to!!

Until next time........

I know exactly what you mean about coming up with something to share. I just posted on my blog about the exact same thing a few days ago! I love all your little Santas and the winter hooking/wool projects that the ladies have done. And your scissors rack, what a cute idea! Except I bet my kittens would knock them all off...

I'm curious to know more about that little pin pouch - I've never seen anything like it before - does it actually open?

Hi Gayle,
No the pin pouch didn't open, was just a pin cushion necklace. I do think I am going to try to do one with a pocket though, to hold scissors and a hook!

Hi Brenda, thanks for taking the time to read my blog. We have been crazy busy getting ready for a hook in, so I haven't had a chance to write much. The Santa's are going with me to the hook in if I have any leftover I will put them on the site. My Sister's Santa business is called Folk For All Seasons. She has an Etsy page and a Facebook page. Have a great day!
