Lots of visits, under the weather, fall and more....

I have always claimed to say that my blog is for the promotion of my business, but over the last couple of years I've found that I've made some great "internet buddies".  A few have even come to visit us as you will see below.  So, I feel that I can tell you why I haven't written in awhile..........two words........fibroid tumors!!  I am not a person who gets sick a lot thankfully and feel that I have a pretty high pain threshold, but man, this is bad.  So, with everything I have going on, running a small business, an impending move back to NY, I have just been told I need a hysterectomy.  I opted to have a shot to hold me over for a few months until I can get settled and get back to NY, then I can deal with it.  I had the shot yesterday so let's hope it works! Fingers crossed.....I just don't have time to be sick!!  (who does right?)
Anyway, as I mentioned above we have had some visitors.

Shortly after Mom got back from the hook-in in Warsaw four very nice ladies from Oklahoma came by.  What a fun bunch of gals.  Thanks Ginger from Primitives By the Light of the Moon for bringing the gang.  They are currently set up at Silver Dollar City, demonstrating rug hooking and selling their wares.  They have been wearing period costumes in 90 degree weather.  I give them a LOT of credit.  If you are in the area they will be there until September 29th...and Ginger has a blog as well.

The Oklahoma Ladies

So in between filling orders and Doctors visits we've been busy as usual. We are at a tough place right now as we are really trying to catch up on all the stuff we wanted to do before we move, but thoughts of packing boxes keep creeping in my mind.  Here are some random shots I've taken over the past couple of weeks...

Mom you've been very busy!!

Baxter on the balance beam!

I LOVE FALL!!

These are from the random vine that just showed up and grew around the pine tree in the court yard.

Some pins in the shop, part of our Halloween display!

What a face!

Mom finished whip stitching our Ezzie's Cat rug, love it, I think whipping is my favorite finishing method.

So, while Mom was at the hook in up in Warsaw she ran into Jan and Pam from Springfield.  Well, they knew of The Old Tattered Flag and called Mom a rock star, LOL!  So, they came over and joined us for some hooking on Monday.  Another great, fun bunch of gals.  We really enjoyed the day!  Thanks for making the drive ladies!

"The Springfield Hookers"

Very cute Pam!

Donna hooks....

Nina and Baxter!

Jan, Granny, and Pam all keeping busy!

So, now that Fall is here my thoughts have already turned to Christmas.  Of course it doesn't hurt that we will be back in our Stone House in NY.  I'm so excited to get back and have already redecorated every room in my head.  It's a strange thing to be moving back into a house you've already lived in, you know the quirks, the issues, the good things.  Would you decorate it the same as you already had or would you rack your brain like me thinking of new ways to do a room?  I know I'm already going to repaint the living room, our bedroom and Jeremy's room.  Many a sleepless night has been spent with these thoughts.

I have managed to get a little designing done though and am very excited for this one.  Mom almost has it done.

"Christmas Parade"
And I've shown this one before, my "Vintage Snowman" punch needle finished, but I added a wood backing/border of our Red Peanut Brittle wool and it matched perfectly.  I pinked the edges and it looks great if I do say so myself.

Another internet friend from Missouri stopped by this morning with her husband and Max, who doesn't do well with anyone else but us, freaked out and ran into the bushes.  Well, this is what he came out looking like.  What are these little sticky green pricker things??  Hard to get off fur, that's what they are!

OMG MAX!!

So, that's what's happening here.  I'll try not to let it get so far in between blogs.

Until next time.......

Hi, I had fibroid tumers too, and put off a hysterectomy for years until I practically bled dry! The I did it, and it was the best thing that I ever did! I wish I had done it much sooner. It is so wonderful that you moving back to your beloved stone house. I think if I really loved how a room looked, I would stick with it. But, maybe another room you have always wanted to try something new! What fun to anticipate the move home.

Hoping the thought of going home to your beautiful stone house will help ease your pain. I'd re-do every room .... at least in my mind. Exciting times!!!

Hope you get to feeling better!

One of two things has to happen... either you need to stop designing such fantastic rugs or I need to stop visiting your blog/web site. I love "Christmas Parade", it is adorable! But I can't order it... I have too many of your patterns to hook right now. So I am being good... today anyway!
Feel better.

About Me

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my blog. I am married and just entering the second phase of my life as a Army retiree's wife. My husband and I did 25+ years in the Army. He is now officially a retired Colonel and has just entered the civilian workforce and I am happily settled in our 1830 Stone house. I (along with my Mom) operate www.theoldtatteredflag and currently we are building a small shop in the back part of the house. We live in Northern NY, right near the Canadian border. I have two handsome sons and 2 puggles. Life is busy for us, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
