Wow!!!!!!!!!!!

Suddenly I'm feeling a little "verklempt" (teary) as I write this.  I just casually added the kit for our "Stars and Flowers" hooked rug to my website and then posted a picture of it to facebook, but as I was thanking my Mother it really hit me!!  I am very lucky!  I get to design these rugs and hand them to my mother and voila, she hooks them beautifully.  It's not the fact that we are churning out patterns, products, rugs, etc. I know that I am very lucky to have such a great working relationship with my Mother.  In fact, she is already upstairs cutting the wool for her next three rug projects.  We get giddy like two young girls when it comes to what we do.  I can tell her honestly if I don't like something and she can do the same. I've been posting pictures of my son helping us in the studio over the past few days and well, my husband has ALWAYS been there for me in "the next crazy idea".  I am very lucky to be surrounded with such a supportive family. I probably won't show them this post as well, I'm getting mushy and it's a little embarrassing, but, gosh, I really do appreciate them all!!!

So, with that said, "Ta Da!" Mom did finish the Stars and Flowers rug.  Like the title of this post says, "WOW".
There has been a lot of chatter about this one, if you are interested in hooking it, both the pattern and kit are available.  I have made it very affordable to you to purchase the kit in parts.  To see, click on the link below:
Again, thanks so much Mom!!

I on the other hand have not been quite as speedy at getting the punched version done, but it is coming along.  I hope to have it done by next week, then it's on to the applique version!

Someone better get moving or they are really going to be clinging to the nest.  They are getting so big.  The other day two fell out, I had to put them back in or the dogs would have gotten them.  I think their mother intentionally made the nest so small so they wouldn't stick around so long....

Mom is cutting the wool for these as I type.  "Reverse pumpkins"  Just wait till you see how they come out!!

Baxter is hunting for Salamanders!
Speaking of family...........I asked my Sister if she would mind if I used one of her great folk art pumpkins for a piece that I will be submitting for the October issue of "The Wool Street Journal", so, see the guy on the left, he will be the inspiration for a free Wool Applique pattern.  Don't forget to subscribe to The Wool Street Journal.  It's a great magazine.  Thanks Sis!

Until next time........!

I have to agree with your title today, " Wow" I am a first time visitor and I am just blown away at your rugs and your ideas. Your Mom did a beautiful job with that rug and now I can't wait for the next issue of the Wool Street Journal.

Yes, we are wonderfully supportive of one another but also brutally honest and the boys do a lot of eye rolling when we get to talking about colors or fabric, lol!

About Me

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my blog. I am married and just entering the second phase of my life as a Army retiree's wife. My husband and I did 25+ years in the Army. He is now officially a retired Colonel and has just entered the civilian workforce and I am happily settled in our 1830 Stone house. I (along with my Mom) operate www.theoldtatteredflag and currently we are building a small shop in the back part of the house. We live in Northern NY, right near the Canadian border. I have two handsome sons and 2 puggles. Life is busy for us, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
