All over the place.........

As I sit here I am listening to my selections on Pandora, Mom's, as I call it, "shit kicker" music.  She loves bluegrass!  and a turning pitch of a screw gun as my tin ceiling is going up in the shop.  Music to my ears.  We have gotten all but the final plank in for the wood plank walls.  I have painted them white and will glaze them for a nice grungy look.  The corrugated tin will be a nice industrial look.
So, as I see the shop being finished panic is starting to set in.  Of course we have plenty of thread, patterns and woolens to fill it, but I want MORE.  I want finished pin cushions, dolls, decorative items.  And I'm fussy, I want to make it all!!  So, I am all over the place......

Pin cushion making.........

Doll heads have been formed, spindle bases attached, wire springs cut, wings being hooked.  Oh the joy!  will I get it all done?  I don't know, but it's all good.  I am most definitely in my happy place.  In fact yesterday I got caught in my pajamas at 3:00 in the afternoon.  I wasn't fazed.  I had told myself that I was going to work all day in my jammies.  A woman stopped by to check things out and she didn't care either.  I must break that habit though.  Dressing for the day is a good thing!
I can also tell that you all are getting ready for Fall.  It's interesting to see the packages go out and the difference in color.  Soft muted pastels in the spring, reds and blues in the summer and now beautiful shades of browns, golds and oranges.  I must say Fall is my favorite time of year for creating.  The colors are so warm....

An order heading out the door.....

I want to have an interesting entrance to my shop.  A few months ago we found this great galvanized tin trough.  I knew right away what I wanted to do with it and sure enough I found it on pinterest.  I found a rusted bottomed watering can and we attached it to a wooden stake that we also screwed in to the top of the trough.  We ran the tubing right up through the watering can and down into the spout and voila!! instant watering can.  The rocks all around are from the door that was cut into the stone entrance going from Mom's dye kitchen into the shop.  Everything gets used around here, nothing goes to waste!!

...and in between shop prep and daily orders we had a nice day of hooking, stitching, punching last Thursday.

Here's Sharon with her first punched piece all finished.  Great job Sharon!!

...and still time to design.  I love silhouettes!!  Last year I did our "All Hallows Eve" with the three witches over the cauldron, this year it's cats!!  "Under the Harvest Moon" has been added to the website, pattern or kit.  It is 16 x 26 inches.  Here is the link:

I wanted to put a twisted edge on it to "frame" it.  The wonderful wool from our website, "walk in the woods" was used for the twisted edge and the leaves below.

So that's it for now.  I'll keep you posted on the shop opening with lots of pictures and of course I am making some finished items for the website as well.
Until next time.....
