My head is spinning.....

I really sometimes don't know if I'm coming or going, lol!  It's the beginning of a new year and though I said I wasn't going to make any resolutions I must say, those familiar thoughts creep back in my head......diet, organize, exercise!  Ugh, why is it that we have this overwhelming urge to purge on January 2?  And make no mistake January was a virtual food fest!  We cannot throw all this Lindor chocolate away....I popped them all day long.  So, therein lies the Christmas 10.....lbs!  Of course you may know that 5 years ago I lost 65 pounds....well, guess what.....I found it!  Not all of it, but most.  I tell myself, "oh well, it took 5 years to find it and it sure was a hell of a lot of fun."  However, I now find myself 5 years older and this body that use to be able to handle the weight just cannot anymore.  It is more of a health issue than vanity.  So, no resolutions but I have gotten a fitbit, which by the way is a wonderful way to make you move and I am walking the track at 6 am in the morning with hubby.  Retirement and the "optional" PT requirements have let's say "padded" him so we really must move!!!  Along with my new early hour routine comes with the realization that I might be able to get more work done and so here I sit, surrounded by creative chaos.  The ideas are just swimming in my head and I'm trying to get them out as fast as I can.....

This beautiful leather bound journal that Mom gave me for Christmas helps.  The handmade paper inside is absolutely gorgeous....

So I've been sketching new ideas....

From the pages to the fabric.  I cannot show you more of this one as it is going to Punch Needle and Primitive Stitcher magazine...but it's a beauty!!

...and I have vowed to work on my much neglected Wool applique section so they are starting to pile up....

...along with punch needle pieces that need backings, patterns that need to be added to the website, paperwork, deadlines.

And Mom feels equally busy with all the new designs I keep throwing at her!  She is making great progress on "Pig Call".

I just love the way this broccoli turned out.

And making an appearance....Baxter!  Baxter barely shows his face lately.  It is very cold here and he HATES being cold so he finds a corner and simply snuggles.  Maybe we should all take after him.

Here's one of our new designs...."3 Hearts" has been added to the website for Rug Hooking and Punch Needle.  Simply type the name into the quick search box on our homepage and the patterns will come up for you.  www.theoldtatteredflag.com

And this guy is not new, but Mom hooked him again, very different from the first version.  He is called Primitive Rooster and can be found on the website for hooking or punching as well.

So as usual, a flurry of activity around here.  Stay tuned we have lots of good things in store.
Until next time.....

You're on the right track (pun intended) for getting healthier! :-) Also, high protein, low carb foods... it's easier to do than you think... simply because of the energy that comes from eating this way. Absolutely LOVE every design you just posted about! Looking forward to another creative year! Baxter needs a hug!!! :-)

I am not a hooker but a quilter. Always love your wool thought for my applique. Back in August I got a Fitbit and it really motivated me. The. Hubby got one and we have been walking ever since. Our kids have them too ,so they keep us in challenges all the time. Hubby is going to be 80 this year and I will be 76. It keeps us on our toes.. Hang in there .

Wow, I can only hope that at the young age of 76 I will still be using my fitbit! Great!!! Thank you for writing!!

Yes, poor Baxter does need hugs, the poor guy has had a back couple of days with his seizures....I'd like to think he was shaking from the cold, but no! Thanks so much!

About Me

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my blog. I am married and just entering the second phase of my life as a Army retiree's wife. My husband and I did 25+ years in the Army. He is now officially a retired Colonel and has just entered the civilian workforce and I am happily settled in our 1830 Stone house. I (along with my Mom) operate www.theoldtatteredflag and currently we are building a small shop in the back part of the house. We live in Northern NY, right near the Canadian border. I have two handsome sons and 2 puggles. Life is busy for us, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
