As I sit here writing this morning I have a bit of a stuffy nose and yukky throat and it is -20 outside. The mounds of snow are taller than me and I just shudder at the thought of having to go outside.....ah February. To break up the dreariness of this awful winter, Mom and I decided to take a break for a couple of days to go over to Vermont and visit my Sister. Of course there was a little "retail therapy" and lots of good food and laughter. It was what we needed...
Here are some pictures I snapped in my Sister's home that I thought you might all enjoy...don't we all love peeking in other people's homes? I always say I'd be a great peeping Tom, just to see what great antiques or decorating is going on behind closed doors and through lit windows....

Doesn't that vibrant green look great in this dreary winter? |
Love this vignette....in color..... |
...and antiqued..... |
..one of my favorites |
My sister loves Magdalena Briner Eby style... |
Tulip Cross, design by Emma Lou Lais |
A gathering of samplers. The large "the family" one on the left was a gift from me several years ago made by a very talented friend. It is an amazing piece of hand work... |
Here's my "Starstruck Hearts" design done in different colors. Love!! |
Here's my favorite picture in the post, love the way the sun is shining on this.....I'm guessing it's a design by Barb Carroll or Emma Lou Lais, but I could be wrong.... |
Here's a sampling of my Sister's new passion, creating beautiful art with Antique Architectural pieces and clay with amazing paint techniques..... |
...another favorite of mine.... |
...love the light in this picture....hmm, I think I'm particularly drawn to the sun....could be the time of the year.... |
Gorgeous log cabin rug...by the way, these are all hooked by my Sister.....did I mention that? |
More of her folk art.... |
Here's a great piece that she got and asked me if I wanted it for my shop.....when I said ok she said, Oh, you do, maybe I don't want to part with it. I might have dropped the "bitch" bomb.....we say it to each other with love, lol!! |
Here's some goodies that are coming back to my shop with me.... |
This is what you do with all those leftover wool worms...this rug was not hooked by my Sister though...she got it at........drum roll........Home depot! Who knew, looks like an antique hooked rug. I've tried to find one but haven't been able to find it at our local store...they may still be available online, I just haven't had time to search for it... |
The view from the back window.... |
As mentioned, we did enjoy a bit of retail therapy. We visited all our favorite spots.....
The Cabot store. What's not to love about everything cheese, maple, green mountain coffee, etc....? I'll take one of each please.
So, it's back to work for Mom and I. We spent yesterday catching up on orders and had open hooking in the shop. We are making lots of new things for the shop and website and I hope to have the new website, www.theoldtatteredflag.com open very soon. Come back tomorrow and I'll show you some things we've been working on.....
Until next time.....
