The Old Tattered Flag

Ok, I'm sorry, I lied.....

I know, I told you to come back and see my office "after" pictures, but I just don't have it quite done yet.  I want it to be just right when I show you because if I ever get it done and picked up and cleaned it will probably never be that way again.  And I don't know why I don't keep my primary work area neat and tidy because I always enjoy working when it's nice looking.  Anyway, below you can see that hubby did put a covering on my old door, now to paint it and then to get my curtains finished the way I want.....I promise I'll show you soon....

My sister left this morning after coming over for a quick 1 night visit.  Her daughter was almost stranded in Philly as the airline cancelled her flight back to Vermont.  She would have been there for two days...........ridiculous.....until my Sister had the idea for her to fly into Syracuse.  So hubby and I went down Tuesday night to get her.  Anyway, the reason I told you that was because my Sister brought over the amazing new paper art she is working on and let me choose two.  Let me tell you, these are really so awesome.  She had sent me pictures and they really didn't do them justice.  I chose the hands......

and the scissors.  You would never know these are paper.  She has used a very cool technique to age them.....
I love my gifts!!  The hands are hanging in my office and the scissors are in the Dye kitchen.....

I think I mentioned before that we have finally settled into a comfortable pace and I have now had time to do some creating.  I have about 12 new patterns for hooking coming out very soon and have been doing a bit of everything to try to caught up in other areas...

Below I have finally started punching my Large Farm Friends.  I am really happy with how it is punching up...

...and I finally got all 9 of my Petite Prims done....all patterns are available at: www.theoldtatteredflag.com

...and I'm also working on about 4 new Wool applique patterns, below is my "Through the Tulips".  Watch for it very soon on the website..

...and I am also maybe working on a set of 3 valances for my living room.  I say maybe because I am hooking with a #10 and it is killing me.  The strips are so hard to pull.  Although I love the look of the bigger strips I have a hard time with it and I've tried every hook I have.  So, I'm trying to decide if I want to finish it. Keep in mind that it's 40 inches wide by 10 inches and I need 3.

Mom is nearly done hooking our large Weathervanes of New England rug (if I can get her off the Candy Crush), but as promised I have decided to offer the weathervanes separately.  Each rug will have a unique border but all will be done in the same color scheme...I love these, how awesome would the whole group look hanging on one big wall, quite a statement!

A very nice lady named Alice gave Mom and I a bunch of antique rug patterns.  This is a treasure.  We have just been admiring them so far as we try to decide what to do with them.  As you can see several of them are partially hooked.  Each hooker hooks differently so it will be a challenge to finish them, plus they are hooked with very small cuts.  I will keep you posted on this...but just look at how beautiful!! Thanks Alice, they are very loved!!

And new to the website are PENNIES!!  We have put together bags of 100 pennies in color themes like Patriotic, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas, Spring and Earth Tones.  There are four sizes in each bag from 1-2 1/2 inches.
Check them out in our Woolens section at www.theoldtatteredflag.com

...and also new to the website today is the Wool of the Month for March.  Green is the way to go!!  A nice sampling totaling 1/2 yard of yummy soft wool!!

No cute picture of Baxter today, in fact, he's been quite a pain the butt lately.  I think all 3 dogs are just like us and have Cabin Fever bad.  I must let him out 10 times a day and all he does is go out and bark as if to say "Come on Spring"...

So, off to Massachusettes this weekend to see my Mother in law....
Until next time.....

About Me

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my blog. I am married and just entering the second phase of my life as a Army retiree's wife. My husband and I did 25+ years in the Army. He is now officially a retired Colonel and has just entered the civilian workforce and I am happily settled in our 1830 Stone house. I (along with my Mom) operate www.theoldtatteredflag and currently we are building a small shop in the back part of the house. We live in Northern NY, right near the Canadian border. I have two handsome sons and 2 puggles. Life is busy for us, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
