More new designs!!

You just have to love January, it's the month where you feel like you are going to go stir crazy if you don't get organized!  I'm slowly but surely getting there as far as computer work, fixing alot of things that have needed attention for quite some time.  (ebay, ebay, ebay)  I also have had this crazy burst of creativeness and the designs are just flowing.
In the first photo you can see my "1831 Antique Floral" that I just finished punching last night.  It is very big at approx. 8 x 9, took well over 20 skeins of thread, but as you can see, very well worth it.  I used my own hand dyed threads and what a difference it makes.  Mom is hooking this one right now, I'll get a pic on when it's done.
I have a new Animal series available.  There are actually four rugs; a Cow, a Sheep, a Pig and a Chicken.  This picture shows the first three of the series, but Mom is nearly done the cow.  Each pattern can be purchased separately, but i also have a design with all four in one rug.  (It's huge)
The Geometric table runner is growing on me, but I'm not a huge fan of geometrics.  I will have the pattern available this week on ebay and the website, http://www.theoldtatteredflag/.
Then, what would any blog update be without a nice photo of wonderful winter.  We had a day a couple weeks ago in the 40's, highly unusual for this area, so I took a walk in the back field and made up some grapevine wreaths.  Well in true North country fashion, here's what they looked like the next day.  I thought it was a neat photo!
Well, off to Syracuse, my baby boy turned 18 yesterday and he wants to go to the mall and a movie, so we'll venture out.
Until next time.....

New things and .....Winter is here!

Never a dull moment here with Mom and I always ready to try the next new thing.  As I mentioned in my last post we had been fooling with proddy.  I finished the border on my experimental sheep rug.  The jury is still out on it, though several ladies have jumped right on it saying they love it.  They think it's super primitive.........I'm not sure I like it, but truth is, it's very different!  Mom did a sunflower which is pretty, still, just not sure I like proddy or not.
The new pattern is one of 9 new patterns I will be adding to ebay and my website, http://www.theoldtatteredflag.com/ today.  It's called "Antique Foral" and I can't wait to see it finished.  I am going to start punching it today.  I envision antique black for the background, nice rich colors.
Every once in awhile I have to get away from designing and computer work so like to fool with different things and the heart is the result of my latest venture which I JUST LOVE!  I made it from a piece of quilted material and papers.  The more wrinkled the better and the more texture in your fabric and paper the better as they will take the antiquing nicely.  I have two of these and they will both be on ebay and my website as well.
Oh, the winter picture.  It's a vine in our backyard and when I got up this morning to let the dogs out the sun was shining on it so that it looked like a lit up chandelier.  Wish I could have gotten that in the picture, but still, it's very pretty.  But, I have to admit, the winter that held off for so long is finally here.  But, we are lucky, we have 38 inches of snow less than what we normally have.  Yes, you did hear me right.
I try not to be negative and dwell on my dislike of winter (I grew up in Vermont, so am not a stranger to winter weather), but I REALLY hate the cold and the snow.  Mom joked, although it really wasn't a joke, that she hadn't left the house in 12 days.  She wasn't lying.  Problem is, I don't like intense heat either.  Where is the perfect place to live??
Well, I have lots of other things to share, just am really bad about finding the time to upload, so keep checking back, I'll try to be better.
Until next time.....

Proddy and dieting!!

Hi Everyone, so sorry I haven't written more often.  Guess what, it's busy.....as usual.  It's that time of year where you have an almost overpowering impulse to organize and for me that's very hard because everyday I am having to draw patterns, print out cover sheets, etc, so I make a mess every morning, then have to clean it up.  If I was only organized.  Will it ever happen?  I have almost come to terms with the fact that organized chaos is ok, right?
We have been very busy with some newer projects.  Our local hookers have wanted to learn proddy hooking.  Although I'm not a huge fan of proddy rugs (I really don't care for the straight edged rag rugs) we have been fooling with some different ideas.  See the simple sheep rug I am working on below.  I just wanted to hook up something small and try putting a proddy "frame" around it.  You know......it's different......and it's growing on me.  It's not something I would do alot of, but it's different and fun.  Mom is doing a zig zag border around a simple crow rug, but hasn't finished it just yet.  When it's done I'll show it.
Speaking of Mom, she is in the process of finishing one of my new designs, the swan rug. She is trying to decided whether to put a braided edge on it.  I'm crossing my fingers in hopes that she will!!  If she does I'll update the photos.  It's a stunning, simple design, the colors, the colors.

Life in the New Year dieting world is NOT going easy.  For the past year and a half I have been living the weight watchers life and it's been not bad, but since I blew it over the holidays I have been having a very hard time getting back to it.  I'm cooking the same, healthier, but it's the need to snack that is killing me.  Fruit?  Who needs fruit when there are pringles to munch on. Hey, they are low fat pringles!!!
Well, I better get back to that sheep rug, I'll add photos when it's done.  Until next time...
